Beast ruled out of semi-final

Thomas du Toit looks set to continue in the Sharks front row this Saturday with news that injured Bok Beast Mtawarira did not make the journey to Christchurch.

Mtawarira has been sidelined with a neck injury since mid-June, and has not recovered sufficiently to be considered for the coming game against the Crusaders. The Sharks will also be without lock Anton Bresler, who sustained a rib injury in the recent clash against the Highlanders.

Sharks director of coach Jake White has taken two loosehead props to New Zealand, and it is likely that he will start with Du Toit and play Dale Chadwick from the bench.

Du Toit has impressed with his powerful scrummaging in recent weeks. He should form part of a front row that includes Boks Bismarck and Jannie du Plessis when the Sharks pack down against a formidable Crusaders pack.

Stephan Lewies, who missed the previous game with injury, is expected to start at lock. Marco Wentzel has travelled to New Zealand as second-row cover.
