Absa to end Currie Cup sponsorship

Saru will have to find a new sponsor for South Africa's premier domestic tournament at the end of the year.

According to City Press rugby writer Dan Retief, Absa will not renew the current contract, said to be worth about R20-million, when it expires in December.

Absa has sponsored the competition in various guises since 1985.

Meanwhile, Absa is set to retain its sponsorship of the Springbok jersey but replace its logo with that of its British principle, Barclays.
