Ackermann visits Gloucester

Lions coach Johan Ackermann will be in charge of training sessions at Gloucester this week.

With the Lions having a bye this weekend, Ackermann has taken the opportunity to link up with the English club he will join full-time after Super Rugby.

Ackermann is set to meet the Gloucester players and lead a couple of training sessions before returning ahead of the Lions' last regular-season game against the Sharks in two weeks' time.

'He's going to take some training sessions and he's going to really get involved,' said Gloucester CEO Stephen Vaughan.

Hooker Richard Hibbard said he had received positive feedback on Ackermann.

'I've heard he's an imposing man so I'm looking forward to meeting him. He's supposed to be a big bloke,' Hibbard said.

'I've heard good things about him and I was lucky enough to be with a couple of South Africans on that Baa-Baas trip so I spoke to them and I haven't spoken to anyone who's had a bad word to say about him.

'I'm really excited about what he brings, a new culture and camaraderie and I'm excited to meet him.'
