Johan Ackermann and his son Ruan will face no action from police over a nightclub incident last December.

The duo were implicated in a fight in Cheltenham, with 24-year-old personal trainer Harry Allen stating that he would be pressing charges after allegedly being assaulted by the Ackermanns just before 01:30.

However, Gloucester Rugby insisted that the fight had not been instigated by Johan or Ruan, and on Wednesday confirmed that the police would be taking no further action following an investigation.

'Having fully supported Johan and Ruan throughout this process, the club is delighted with the outcome of the investigation,' read a statement. 'Today's news allows everyone involved to move on and to focus on an important few weeks on the pitch in the run in to the end of the season.'
