Ashley-Cooper off to France

Wallabies utility back Adam Ashley-Cooper will join Bordeaux Bègles after the 2015 Rugby World Cup on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old, who has over 100 caps for the national side and won the Super Rugby title with the Waratahs earlier this year, is another major coup for Bordeaux as they look to compete with the might of clubs like Toulon and Racing Métro.

'Beyond the great player he is, we particularly love his mindset. He is an outstanding competitor and he has shown great desire to support our ambitious sports project,' said club president Laurent Marti. 'This signature will help grow the club and the group of players will rely on his vast experience to overcome the many steps ahead.'

After a decade at the top level of the sport in Australia, Ashley-Cooper decided it was time to pursue new experiences at the conclusion of next season.

'I thoroughly look forward to beginning the next chapter of my career and facing the new challenges that France has to offer,' said Ashley-Cooper.

'I am so grateful to have had a great career here in Australia. I'd like to thank the ARU and the Waratahs for all the support over the past decade.

'The next chapter of my rugby career is only possible thanks to their support. Bordeaux is a beautiful part of the world and the club has a strong history and strong support. I can not wait to be a part of their future after the World Cup.

'I am very attracted to their style of play and love the direction of the club is heading in with strong recruitment across the squad.'
