SA Team of the Week (Round 5)

JON CARDINELLI picks a form South African XV based on performances in round five of Super Rugby.

There were some difficult decisions to make this week, particularly in the positions of wing, outside centre and blindside flank. It shouldn't surprise to see Lions and Sharks players dominating selections considering the emphatic wins by these teams in Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein.

Madosh Tambwe finished well to score two tries for the Lions against the Kings. However, Kobus van Wyk of the Sharks and Raymond Rhule of the Cheetahs both produced superior all-round performances in Bloemfontein.

The selection of Lukhanyo Am at No 13 is also based on all-round contributions. EW Viljoen and Francois Venter impressed on attack for their respective teams, but Am's work on defence – particularly at the breakdown – was outstanding.

Cheetahs flank Oupa Mohoje put in a big shift for his side, as did Sharks No 7 Jean-Luc du Preez and Stormers skipper Siya Kolisi. Andisa Ntsila of the Kings cracks the nod, though. The Kings flanker scored a try and set up another, and made as many as 14 tackles.
