Bulls extend Kriel’s contract

Fullback Jesse Kriel has signed a contract extension with the Vodacom Bulls, which will keep him in Pretoria for the next three years.

Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg confirmed a deal was struck to have Kriel contracted to the union until the end of 2018.

'We are very pleased to have Jesse highlighting the number of younger players who have extended their contracts,' said Van Rensburg.

Junior Boks lock Jason Jenkins has also signed on until 2018, while Hanro Liebenberg, RG Snyman, Abongile Nonkontwana, Njabulo Gumede and Ivan van Zyl signed on for a further two seasons until 2017. Warrick Gelant, Tinus de Beer and JT Jackson had their contracts extended by a year each until 2016.  

Meanwhile, Blue Bulls coach Nollis Marais has named his squad for the upcoming Currie Cup Premier Division.

Kriel is one of eight players who is currently in the wider Springbok training squad, to have been named in Marais' extended group.

'We have some of the best young players in the country who won national titles at U19 and U21 level and excelled for the Junior Springboks on the world stage. Coupled with that, we have some classy internationals available for this campaign and I am pretty confident that we will be a very competitive outfit this year,' Marais said.
