Five moments that mattered

The key moments from the Vodacom Super Rugby match between the Lions and Crusaders at Ellis Park, according to SIMON BORCHARDT.

39th minute – With the Crusaders leading 6-0 thanks to two Colin Slade penalties, the Lions botch a lineout inside their 22. The visitors come close to scoring a try but concede a turnover.

46th minute – Ryan Crotty runs the perfect line and breaks through the Lions' defence. He is ankle-tapped by Faf de Klerk but gets back to his feet to score a converted try that makes it 13-0.

52nd minute – The Lions launch an attack near halfway with strong ball-carrying from Willie Britz, Martin Muller and Schalk van der Merwe getting them close to the tryline. Jaco Kriel then passes to Lionel Mapoe, who scores in the left corner. Marnitz Boshoff, who had missed a penalty two minutes earlier, kicks the conversion.

65th minute – A pass from Boshoff inside the Lions' 22 comes off the tackler into the hands of Crotty, who appears to score his second try. But as Slade is preparing to kick the conversion, the referee goes up to the TMO, and replays show that Crotty was held up by Warren Whiteley and Kriel.

73rd minute – Andy Ellis picks up the loose ball at a Lions' ruck inside their 22, shrugs off a defender and scores a try that wraps up the game for the Crusaders.
