Goosen could feature in Pro14
- 12 Mar 2018
Johan Goosen has joined the Cheetahs in training ahead of his move to French club Montpellier.
It emerged earlier this year that Goosen was set to join Montpellier after owner Mohed Altrad agreed to buy him out of his contract with Racing 92 for €1.5-million (R22-million).
He has now begun training with his former team in order to get into suitable condition, and the Cheetahs confirmed on social media that the utility back may even be available for selection in the Pro14.
'It is a big compliment for FS [Free State] Rugby that the ex-Cheetah and Springbok flyhalf, Johan Goosen, has chosen to train with the Cheetahs to get his game back on track before joining Montpellier,' the Cheetahs stated on Twitter.
'He will be training with the team until the end of June and can be selected if on form.'
Bekker stays in the game
Recently-retired former Springbok lock Andries Bekker will move straight into a coaching role, writes CLINTON VAN DER BERG.
Franchises must feel transformation heat
The Springboks cannot be expected to hit SA Rugby’s transformation targets when the Super Rugby franchises are failing to do so on a regular basis, writes JON CARDINELLI.
