Elton Jantjies has signed a new two-year deal with the Golden Lions.

The flyhalf had a disappointing Super Rugby season on loan for the Stormers but there was speculation that he would sign for Western Province. However, according to Beeld, Jantjies will be staying in Joburg for at least another two years.

Beeld newspaper reports that several other key players have also decided to extend their stay with the Lions, including Marnitz Boshoff, Lionel Mapoe, Alwyn Hollenbach, Ruan Combrinck, Franco van der Merwe, Jaco Kriel, Warren Whiteley and Willie Wepener. Prop Bees Roux, who recently arrived at the union, is also on the verge of signing a longer-term deal.

Other players like Anthony Volmink, Stokkies Hanekom, Andries Coetzee, Derick Minnie and Willie Britz already have contracts for 2014.

Deon van Rensburg, Dylan des Fountain, Lionel Cronjé, CJ van der Linde and Martin Bezuidenhout have yet to negotiate new deals but the Lions are reportedly keen to hold on to a few of them as well.
