Flyhalf Elton Janties will captain the Lions in their pre-season warm-up match against the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.
Jantjies was handed the captain’s armband as Warren Whiteley is unavailable because he has had his wisdom teeth removed.
He will play alongside fellow regular starters Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert, Faf de Klerk, Courtnall Skosan, Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Howard Mnisi.
Coach Johan Ackermann did, however, include a number of youngsters in his lineup, such as wing Madosh Tambwe and ex-Bulls lock Marvin Orie.
