Lavanini’s season over

Argentina lock Tomás Lavanini has been ruled out for six months as the result of a serious knee injury.

Lavanini sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury in the Argentina's 26-24 victory over the Springboks in Salta last Saturday and will miss the rest of the Rugby Championship and Los Pumas' tour of Europe in November.

Winger Manuel Montero was also left out of the 28-man squad to tour New Zealand and Australia, after suffering a grade-one tear in his adductor thigh muscle.

Both Nicolás Sánchez and Juan Martín Hernández have been named in the squad despite also coming off as injury casualties against South Africa.

Coach Daniel Hourcade has recalled No 8 Leonardo Senatore, who has served a 10-week suspension for biting, centres Matías Moroni and Jeronimo de la Fuente and scrumhalf Felipe Ezcurra.
