Muir sues Lions for R4.6-million

Former Lions head coach and director of rugby Dick Muir is suing the Golden Lions Rugby Union over an alleged breach of contract.

According to Netwerk24, Muir is claiming R4.6-million from the union after his three-year contract was ended after only one year in 2010.

Muir was initially appointed as head coach and director of rugby for the period between November 2009 and October 2012, but the last time he received payment was for October 2010.

He now claims R2.4-million and R2.2-million respectively for the last two years he was not paid.

The GLRU denies the claim and said Muir was paid R900,000 too much during his time with the union and it made 'wrongful payments' during the months that Muir spent with the Springboks helping them to prepare for the 2011 World Cup.
