‘My Bok days are over’

Sharks centre Frans Steyn says he doesn't expect to play for the Springboks again.

The 27-year-old recently returned to the Sharks to play Vodacom Super Rugby following a stint with Japanese club the Toshiba Brave Lupus.

Steyn last played for the Boks in a match against the World XV at Newlands last June. He then withdrew himself from the squad because of a contractual dispute with Saru.

While many believe Steyn still has an important role to play for the Boks this year, he doesn't expect a recall.

'It's always a privilege to play for the Boks,' Steyn told Rapport newspaper. 'However, when I moved to Japan I accepted that my days in a Springbok jersey were finally behind me. I have made peace with it.

'Players like Damian de Allende [Stormers] and Jan Serfontein [Bulls] have also put their hands up high and proved they are world-class. If Jean de Villiers recovers [from a knee injury], which I hope and pray happens, he chooses himself.

'My only focus is to be included in the Sharks team, play my part and be proud of the team's performances.'
