Province crush Kings

Western Province scored six tries to beat the EP Kings 45-14 at Newlands on Friday night.

The bonus-point win took Province to 35 points on the Currie Cup log, but it wasn't enough to secure a home semi-final as the Blue Bulls beat the Pumas 25-24 in Nelspruit. WP will therefore meet the Bulls at Loftus next weekend.

It took the hosts just two minutes to open the scoring. A lineout driving maul was stopped just short of the line, before Nizaam Carr was put into space.

Scott Breda kept the Kings in the game with three penalties, but Juan de Jongh's try, after Godlen Masimla had taken a quick tap, put Province back in the pound seats.

Masimla then went over for WP's third try, before Enrico Acker dotted down for the Kings to make it 24-14 at the break.

Dillyn Leyds and Justin Benn extended WP's lead when they scored tries in the 42nd and 57th minutes respectively.

Leyds then dotted down in the last play of the game to complete the rout.
