SACS smash St John’s

SACS scored seven tries to beat St John's 49-10 at the Wynberg Festival on Monday.

The Cape side opened the scoring with a 50m penalty by flyhalf Jordan Chait, and then ran in three tries via wing Tumi Mogoje, centre Ciaran Dayaram and Chait to take a 18-5 lead into the break.

Mogoje grabbed his second try 10 minutes into the second half, with SACS going on to score another three tries through flanker Liam Larkan, scrumhalf Rua-Ees Arendse and Dayaram, who ran 70m to score.

St John's second try right at the end of the game came as scant consolation.

'We scored some good tries and produced some quality play, but there were some disappointing moments,' SACS 1st XV coach Graeme Wepener told SARugbymag.co.za. 'We have the ability to score tries, which is a positive, but there are still many areas we need to improve in.'

In other matches on Monday, winger Dian Fourie scored four tries as Wynberg steamrolled St Stithians 48-0, Stellenberg comfortably saw off Pearson 33-3, Tygerberg were too strong for Walvis Bay, winning 38-10, Bellville had to fight back in the second half to beat Hugenote 39-31, while Rondebosch outscored Upington four tries to one to win 26-10.
