Jake Schatz will start at No 8 for the Reds against the Crusaders in Christchurch on Friday.
Schatz, who is back from a four-week injury layoff, comes into the starting XV at the expense of Adam Korczyk, with Adam Thomson shifting back to blindside flank.
The Reds also welcome back Ben Tapuai and Jamie-Jerry Taulagi from injury, with both included in the reserves.
