Sharks to play Saracens in January
- 06 Dec 2013
The Sharks will play English club Saracens on 25 January at Allianz Park in London.
The encounter will see the Currie Cup champions going up against the Premiership leaders in a rare northern vs southern hemisphere match-up.
'Our players will enjoy the challenge presented by a full-strength Sharks team, packed with Springboks like Bismarck du Plessis and Frans Steyn, and it’s sure to be a fantastic rugby occasion at Allianz Park,' said Mark McCall, Saracens director of rugby.
Sharks CEO John Smit highlighted the importance of the match ahead of the Super Rugby season.
'It will be a wonderful experience for our players to travel to London and play at Allianz Park. The match is a crucial part of our preparations for the new Super Rugby season and it will also be the first match in charge for our new coach, Jake White,' said Smit.
The match has been approved by Saru, and will be presented for approval by the RFU board next week.
