Top 20 schools rankings (2 September)

Oakdale rose to seventh position in the FNB Top 20 rankings following their 21-19 victory over Boland Landbou.

In the only change to the top half of the table, Oakdale's promotion sees them climb above Selborne, HTS Middelburg and Eldoraigne.

Lower down, Rondebosch's 43-point thumping of rivals Bishops earns them a place on the list at the expense of Helpmekaar. 'Bosch move from outside the rankings to leapfrog SACS in 13th spot. Grey High are relegated from 14th to 17th, and at the bottom, Garsfontein, Diamantveld and Maritzburg all drop down one place to complete the elite group.

SASchoolSports.co.za has compiled a final rankings list, based on overall performance throughout season and not just this past weekend's results.

Paarl Boys' are deservedly at the top as the undisputed No 1-ranked side in the country, having completed the perfect campaign with 21 wins from 21 matches. The last schools team to win every match played in a single year, was Grey College in 2010.

Paarl Gym and Paul Roos are the two other teams from the Western Cape featuring in the top 10, while three come from Gauteng (Affies, Monument and EG Jansen), two from the Eastern Cape (Selborne and Grey High) and one each from the Free State (Grey College) and KwaZulu-Natal (Michaelhouse).

Teams listed in last week's provisional rankings but failed to make the final group, are Bishops, Diamantveld and Boland Landbou. They are replaced by Glenwood, Brackenfell and Rondebosch, who've all fared admirably in 2015.

The SchoolBoyRugbyBlog.co.za has also selected its final rankings for 2015. There are no new additions to last week's list, but a few teams have been promoted or demoted in the pecking order.

Affies overtook Paarl Gym in second place, Michaelhouse leapfrogged Selborne in seventh spot and EG Jansen rose above Grey High in ninth.

Bishops dropped six positions from 11th to 17th, while HTS Middelburg and Eldoraigne improved their rating, coming in at 14th and 16th respectively.
