The four nominees are:

DAMIAN DE ALLENDE
De Allende was outstanding at 12 for the Stormers against the Cheetahs. He showed terrific pace on the counter-attack, as well as momentum-stalling physicality on defence throughout. His vision and passing in the build up to Kobus van Wyk’s try was a highlight.

BISMARCK DU PLESSIS
Du Plessis had a massive game against the Blues, both as a leader and player. It was evident throughout that the Sharks' forwards followed his abrasive defensive example.

JAN SERFONTEIN
It was Serfontein's elusive running in the first half that ensured that the Bulls took control against the Brumbies. The centre didn't have to do much more than catch the ball for the hosts' first try, but his offload to Jono Ross for the Bulls' second was pure genius.

WARREN WHITELEY
The No 8 made 22 tackles against the Force, the most by any Lions player. He also carried the ball five times for a total of 25m, more than any Lions forward.
