Willem Alberts will not be available for selection for Saturday’s clash with the Stormers as he continues his recovery from a bicep injury.
Alberts moved back to Johannesburg after spending the last five years in France with Parisian club Stade Francais. He was initially doing fitness work at Ellis Park but after prolonged talks decided to sign for his former team.
The ‘Bone Collector’ is looking make his first run-out for his boyhood team since leaving the Lions for the Sharks in 2009.
However, fans will have to wait to see the 35-year-old in action as a bicep injury he picked up in 2019 continues to keep him out.
The Lions have, however, been boosted by the return to fitness of two of their players.
Experienced scrumhalf Ross Cronje and wing Jamba Ulengo have overcome the respective niggles that ruled them out last weekend and are available for selection.
The Lions are targeting back-to-back victories after getting the first win of the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby season against the Reds, following their opening-round loss to the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.
