Brumbies loose forward Tuaina Taii Tualima has been ruled out indefinitely after being diagnosed with dengue fever following a team trip to Fiji.
The 27-year-old, who made his Brumbies debut in their season-opening Super Rugby win over the Fijian Drua in Suva, missed last week’s clash against the Force and is now receiving treatment from doctors and an infectious disease specialist.
“The team took all preventative measures against mosquito-borne illnesses, but Tuaina Taii Tualima has become ill after catching dengue fever,” the Brumbies said in a statement.

“He was diagnosed early and is receiving medical input.” According to the Canberra-based outfit, there is no timeline for his return.
The diagnosis comes amid a dengue outbreak in Fiji, where over 200 cases have been reported since the start of 2025, Daily Mail reports. The country’s health ministry has urged the public to take precautions.
Tualima, who can also play lock, joined the Brumbies this season on a two-year deal. The side is now in New Zealand preparing for Friday’s clash against the Blues at Eden Park after a 49-34 loss to the Chiefs.
