Wayne Barnes has been appointed as the match-day referee for the World Cup quarter-final between hosts Japan and the Springboks in Tokyo on Sunday.
Barnes will be assisted by countryman Luke Pearce and New Zealander Ben O’Keefe, with Rowan Kitt as the TMO. It will be the second Springbok game that Barnes has refereed in the tournament, having also been in charge of their pool match against Italy.
Meanwhile, France’s Jerome Garces will take charge of his second World Cup quarter-final as England face Australia in Oita on Saturday. The day’s other quarter-final between defending champions New Zealand and Ireland will be handled by Nigel Owens.
South African Jaco Peyper will take charge of his 50th test (and his first quarter-final) with Wales versus France in Oita.
