All Blacks legend to plot Lions downfall

In a major coup for the First Nations & Pasifika XV, the invitational outfit has added one of New Zealand rugby’s all-time greats to its staff.

Tana Umaga has joined the coaching team for the historic clash with the British & Irish Lions in Melbourne on 22 July.

The former All Blacks captain and current Moana Pasifika coach will serve as an assistant to head coach Toutai Kefu for the match at Docklands Stadium.

Kefu, a former Wallaby and Tonga coach, leads a staff rich in cultural and international experience. Joining Umaga in the coaches’ box are Sekope Kepu, Simon Raiwalui and Glen Ella.

Rugby Australia director of high performance Peter Horne said the match would showcase elite rugby and deep cultural pride.

“This will be a truly special occasion, celebrating First Nations and Pasifika cultures on one of rugby’s biggest stages,” said Horne.

“This coaching group reflects the strength of heritage and experience that will inspire both players and fans.”
