• Blitzboks get New Zealand in quarters

South Africa won all their matches on day one of the London Sevens to finish top of their group.

Seabelo Senatla starred for the Blitzboks in the group stages, scoring seven tries in three matches.

They started the day as they had the previous week, running out comfortable winners against Portugal. Their second match was much of the same as they dominated proceedings against the French, as Senatla ran in a hat-trick in a 47-7 victory.

That set things up perfectly for their final game against the Scots, who had knocked them out of the Cup in Glasgow last week. Scotland had all the play in the first half, but it was the Blitzboks who led 7-5 at the break. Things opened up in the second half as South Africa gained revenge for last week's defeat with a 26-12 victory.

They will now face New Zealand in the Cup quarters after they finished second in Group A behind England.

    Blitzboks results (Day 1):

    Beat Portugal 43-7
    Beat France 47-7
    Beat Scotland 26-12
