Jones in talks with Stormers

Eddie Jones has confirmed he is considering taking up a coaching role at the Stormers.

After the departure of head coach Allister Coetzee at the conclusion of this year’s Vodacom Super Rugby season, the Stormers have looked at a number of possible candidates to take over.

Reports on Tuesday suggested the lucrative offer on the table was a two-year deal, and that Jones could possibly work with the Stormers while still continuing in his current role as coach of the Japanese national team.

Jones, who worked with the Springboks at the 2007 World Cup, confirmed discussions were underway.

‘I am chatting with [the Stormers], but that’s the extent of it,’ he told Kyodo News. ‘I am off contract in 2015 and I’m looking at my options.

‘Players and coaches sign contracts and do everything they can until the contract comes to an end. But you need to look elsewhere when your contract is coming to an end. That’s professional rugby.’
