Stormers fire late to sink Eagles

The Stormers scored five tries to beat SWD 34-3 in a warm-up match in George on Saturday.

The Eagles were in this contest for as many as 34 minutes. It was only in the latter stages of the first half, and in the second stanza, where the Stormers started to gel as a unit.

The visitors scored two tries through Cheslin Kolbe and EW Viljoen right before half-time. They added to their 15-3 lead after the break when Huw Jones and Rynhardt Elstadt scored.

A string of substitutes midway through the second half impacted on the visitors' synergy. However, the Stormers scrum consistently troubled that of the Eagles, and a penalty try was awarded to the visitors at the death.

The Stormers will play their second warm-up match against the Cheetahs at Newlands next Friday.
