Celebrate double world champion Springbok Trevor Nyakane’s birthday with a look back on his decorated career.
The 68-Test Bok front-row powerhouse, who turns 36 today, was a key member of the team that won the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups and British & Irish Lions series in 2021.

Able to play both loosehead and tighthead prop, Nyakane has also played a prominent role in two Currie Cup triumphs – first with the Vodacom Bulls in 2020-21, and again in his first season as a Sharks player last year.
A product of Hoërskool Ben Vorster in Limpopo, the affable Nyakane launched his professional career in Bloemfontein with the Free State Cheetahs in 2010 before a seven-year stint at Loftus cemented his status as a fan favourite.
A short spell at Racing 92 preceded Nyakane’s return to the Republic and the Shark Tank, where the veteran of three World Cup campaigns helps mentor the next generation of SA scrum juggernauts while forming a formidable all-Bok front row with Bongi Mbonambi, Ox Nche and Vincent Koch.
