Bok lock off to Japan from Gloucester

Gloucester have confirmed Springbok lock Franco Mostert is one of the players who will be leaving the English club to head to Japan.

Mostert joined Gloucester from the Lions in 2018, where he played under Johan Ackermann, who has now taken up a coaching gig in Japan.

On Friday, it was confirmed four South Africans in Tyler Paul, Franco Marais, Ruan Vermaak and Makazole Mapimpi would all form part of Ackermann’s NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes side, but it’s believed Mosert will most likely be joining Honda Heat.

In announcing the departure of several players, Gloucester CEO Lance Bradley said: While it’s always sad to see players depart the Club, we nevertheless wish them all the best for the future.

‘We have, of course, been planning for these departures for some time, and will have a fully competitive squad as we look forward to restarting the 2019-20 season. We will be providing details shortly.’
