Three of the Springboks’ World Cup standby players will turn out for the Barbarians in a warm-up match against Samoa in Brive on Friday night.
Samoa have added the game against the famous invitational side to their agenda as they look to fine-tune their lineup for the World Cup.
The Barbarians will be coached by Bristol Bears director of rugby and former Samoa captain Pat Lam, who previously coached the side in the 63-45 win over England at Twickenham in 2018.
Three Springboks have been included in the Barbarians’ starting lineup: hooker Joseph Dweba, utility forward Jean-Luc du Preez – who will play at lock – and scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies.

All three players were omitted from the 33-player squad for the World Cup, but were named on South Africa’s nine-player standby list for injuries.
The Bok trio have been joined in the starting lineup by fellow South Africans Reniel Hugo (lock) and Dylan Richardson (openside flank).
The match will also see France star Virimi Vakatawa, starting at outside centre, play his first game since his contract with Racing 92 was cancelled due to a heart condition.
Stormers hooker Andre-Hugo Venter is on the bench for the Barbarians.
