The Vodacom Bulls hold all national age-group titles for a second consecutive season after victory against the Sharks retained their U19s crown at Kings Park on Saturday.
The Bulls, currently also the U20 and U21 title holders, outscored the Sharks five tries to one in a resounding 35-7 win for coach Edgar Marutlulle and his young charges. DHL Western Province beat the Cheetahs 24-19 in the final match of the competition.
This year, the Bulls, Cheetahs, WP and Sharks battled it out for honours over a single round of matches from 29 October until 12 November. The Bulls thumped WP 24-3 in the opening round, before they demolished the Cheetahs 32-10 in round 2.
“With our U19s retaining their national title today, the Bulls have for a second consecutive season, made a clean sweep of the national junior competitions in SA,” Bulls president Willem Strauss said.
“Every title of every professional junior competition still resides in Pretoria! Surely this is unequaled in the history of SA rugby!
“Together with the brilliant club league we’ve established, our pipeline must be amongst the best in the world! I can’t be more proud and grateful.”
