Coetzee to captain Bulls in Rainbow Cup final

The Bulls have named a 28-man travelling squad for Saturday’s inaugural PRO14 Rainbow Cup final against Benetton in Treviso.

The Pretoria side will be captained by Marcell Coetzee, who continues in this role in the absence of injured Springbok No 8 Duane Vermeulen.

As expected, Springboks Morne Steyn, Trevor Nyakane and Marco van Staden are all absent from the squad after joining the Bok training camp in Bloemfontein this week.

Meanwhile, Embrose Papier, Arno Botha, Elrigh Louw and Sintu Manjezi will all miss the match through injury, while Stedman Gans and Kurt-Lee Arendse are with the Springbok Sevens team.

Despite these absentees, the Bulls have been able to keep a core of the players who have represented the team through the Rainbow Cup SA, including Bok prop Lizo Gqoboka, scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl, centre Cornal Hendricks and wings Stravino Jacobs and Madosh Tambwe.

Forwards: Lizo Gqoboka, Gerhard Steenekamp, Johan Grobbelaar, Schalk Erasmus, Sydney Tobias, Jacques Van Rooyen, Mornay Smith, Robert Hunt, Ruan Nortje, Janko Swanepoel, Jan Uys, Walt Steenkamp, WJ Steenkamp, Muller Uys, Marcell Coetzee, Nizaam Carr.

Backs: Ivan Van Zyl, Zak Burger, Keagan Johannes, Chris Smith, Clinton Swart, Cornal Hendricks, Marco Janse van Vuren, Stravino Jacobs, Madosh Tambwe, Dawid Kellerman, Gio Aplon, David Kriel.
