Hacjivah Dayimani is the ultimate impact player, and his versatility can reignite the Springboks’ famed Bomb Squad, according to MARK KEOHANE.
Blessed with sublime pace and fast feet for a loose forward, 25-year-old Dayimani has this season continued to complement athleticism with physicality while revelling in a dynamic Stormers loose trio that features Evan Roos and Deon Fourie.
In his TimesLIVE column, Keohane suggest that Dayimani’s talent and versatility is precisely what the Boks need on the bench, and is “reminiscent of the game-changing impact” the likes of RG Snyman and Francois Louw made for South Africa in the 2019 World Cup-winning campaign.
ALSO: Dynamic Dayimani’s charisma is a winner
“No statistic can capture the magic of a player who can change the game with one breathtaking moment, and Dayimani is that rare gem,” he writes.
“Think back to the glory days of the Bok Bomb squad, a unit that redefined the game and left their mark on World Cup rugby history. Dayimani possesses the same explosive potential that made that squad so formidable.
“Rassie Erasmus, in 2019, bulldozed his way past teams in using a six forwards and two backs substitute’s bench, as opposed to the traditional 5-3 split. Dayimani’s talent is such that you could revolutionise a match situation and pick a 7-1 split, especially if Kwagga Smith is also covering from the bench.
“He brings the X-factor, and whether he is surging through the midfield with unstoppable force or soaring down the wing, Dayimani’s impact is undeniable.”
