Debreczeni at 10 for Chiefs

Jack Debreczeni Jack Debreczeni
Published on March 21, 2019

Jack Debreczeni will start at flyhalf in one of five changes to the Chiefs side for their clash against the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday.

Debreczeni earns his first start of the season after returning to full health, with Marty McKenzie dropping out of the match 23.

The other change to the backline sees Solomon Alaimalo return from injury to take his place on the left wing at the expense of Ataata Moeakiola.

In a new-look loose trio, flanks Lachlan Boshier and Luke Jacobson earn starts alongside No 8 Tyler Ardron. Mitchell Brown shifts from the back row to No 5 lock in place of Michael Allardice, and in a direct swap, Angus Ta’avao takes Nepo Laulala’s spot at tighthead prop.

On the bench, loosehead prop Tevita Mafileo returns following a minor injury, and Jesse Parete will provide loose forward cover.

Chiefs – 15 Damian McKenzie, 14 Sean Wainui, 13 Tumua Manu, 12 Anton Lienert-Brown, 11 Solomon Alaimalo, 10 Jack Debreczeni, 9 Brad Weber, 8 Tyler Ardron, 7 Lachlan Boshier, 6 Luke Jacobson, 5 Mitchell Brown, 4 Brodie Retallick (c), 3 Angus Ta’avao, 2 Nathan Harris, 1 Aidan Ross.
Subs: 16 Samisoni Taukei’aho, 17 Tevita Mafileo, 18 Nepo Laulala, Michael Allardice, 20 Jesse Parete, 21 Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi, 22 Alex Nankivell, 23 Ataata Moeakiola.
