Double injury blow for Hurricanes

Hurricanes duo Blade Thomson and Jeff Toomaga-Allen have been ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby tournament.

Lock Thomson, who can also cover flank, suffered a shoulder injury in the Hurricanes' 37-27 win over the Blues and is set to undergo surgery later this week.

Toomaga-Allen, who has started at tighthead prop in all the Hurricanes' games this season, has been ruled out for up to three months after breaking his forearm in the same match.

The Hurricanes face the Waratahs in Sydney in the penultimate round, but scrumhalf TJ Perenara is confident they can overcome the setback.

'Injuries come to every team and it’s how you deal with it. I’m confident in the boys that get brought in and the job that they can do for us,' Perenara said.
