Sarries smash Quins to move second

A world record crowd for a club rugby match of 84,068 saw Saracens beat Harlequins 42-14 at Wembley on Saturday.

The win takes Sarries to second on the English Premiership log with 57 points, still 10 behind log-leaders Northampton. 

Winger Chris Ashton and centre Chris Wyles both grabbed a brace for Saracens, with Billy Vunipola also crossing the line. Harlequins' sole try was scored by flanker Jack Clifford.

In other matches on Saturday, Leicester battled past Exeter 25-18 at Welford Road, and London Irish ran in three first-half tries to edge Newcastle 22-21 at the Madejski.

On Friday, Northampton beat Wasps 52-30 at Franklin's Gardens. Wasps No 8 Nathan Hughes was red-carded eight minutes before the break after his knee collided with the head of George North, as the winger went in to score his second try.

On Sunday, Bath beat London Welsh 29-14 to officially condemn the Exiles to relegation, while Sale saw off Gloucester 23-6 at the AJ Bell Stadium..
