Etzebeth worry for Stormers

Eben Etzebeth is in doubt for the Stormers’ clash against the Sunwolves at Newlands on Friday night.

The lock suffered a calf injury during a lineout training session on Monday, and will be in a race against time to be passed fit for Friday’s clash as the Stormers get set to return from last weekend’s bye.

The Stormers will now anxiously await the results of Etzebeth's scans, with JD Schickerling and Pieter-Steph du Toit possibly set to pack down in the second row against the Sunwolves.

Besides the injury concern over Etzebeth, fullback Cheslin Kolbe has been cleared to play after suffering a concussion against the Jaguares in the Stormers’ last game, and is set to continue in the No 15 jersey.

Meanwhile, Springbok Damian de Allende has been hard at work in training with the Currie Cup team as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury picked up in Japan. The abrasive midfielder is being managed carefully at the moment and it remains to be seen whether or not he will be considered for selection this week.
