Fiji scored six tries to thrash the USA 38-0 in Sunday’s Cup final at the Hamilton Sevens.
In a repeat of the Cape Town Sevens final, the two most consistent teams this season again competed in the main event. But it was Fiji who produced a stirring exhibition-style performance to clinch back-to-back Cup titles at the Hamilton Sevens.
Tries by captain Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu and Aminiasi Tuimaba gave the Fijians a commanding 17-point lead at the interval. Tuimaba’s effort brought his tally to eight tries at the tournament.
It was more of the same in the second half as Fiji’s supreme offloading and support play left the USA chasing shadows. Alasio Naduvo scored a brace and Tuwai also dotted down for a second time to complete the rout.
