Attack coach Nigel Carolan says Glasgow Warriors expect the Vodacom Bulls to come out “snorting” when the teams clash on Friday in a replay of last season’s URC final.
The Bulls face Glasgow at Scotstoun Stadium in round 16 of the 2024-25 URC. The Herd were victorious last season in the corresponding fixture at Loftus, but Franco Smith’s Warriors exacted revenge in the Pretoria final.
The significance of the rematch was underlined by boss Jake White following the Bulls’ historic victory over Munster at Thomond Park last week, where he revealed that “April 25 was always going to be the game that we were going to go hard for”.
With the Bulls and Glasgow having already secured playoff qualification and separated by just four points in the battle for second place, Carolan recognises the additional motivation driving the Pretoria outfit.

“I don’t think we need any motivation this week with the Bulls. Obviously they’re coming with a vendetta. They’re quite open about that. They said after the final, when the fixtures come out, it was about the 25th of April 2025,” Carolan was quoted by The Offside Line.
“Jake White alluded to it after Munster that they have a target on our back, and their whole season is really about getting revenge, and getting one up over us on Friday. But that’s all fine and well.”
He is confident his team can handle the challenge, emphasising the importance of home advantage.
“I think the ball’s in our court. Any team that comes to Scotstoun, they should feel that they’re coming to the slaughterhouse. And when we put our best game on that pitch there, it’s very difficult to deal with it,” he added.
“We don’t really talk about the Bulls and what they’re going to bring. You know what the challenge is going to be. They’re going to be physical.
“Obviously they’re going to be snorting when they come out because the chip is on their shoulder, trying to get revenge over us.”
