Griquas eye strong finish

Griquas need at least two wins for a top six finish, starting with the match against EP Kings in Kimberley on Saturday.

Coach Hawies Fourie has made several changes to his starting lineup for the match against the winless Kings, many of them positional.

The absence of Hilton Lobberts has necessitated a change in the pack, with Hugo Kloppers shifting into the No 4 jersey and Jaco Nepgen moving into the second row.

Carel Greeff will fill the No 7 jersey vacated by Kloppers with Marnus Schoeman slotting in on the other side of the scrum and Ruaan Lerm taking over at eighthman.

In the only other change to the team that was comprehensively outplayed by the Golden Lions, Danie Dames replaces Ederies Arendse on the right wing.

The match will also be a farewell for a number of Griquas stalwarts, with Marnus Schoeman, Ryno Barnes, Janro van Niekerk and Maks van Dyk all set to play their last home game for the union.

Griquas – 15 Gouws Prinsloo, 14 Danie Dames, 13 Johnathan Francke, 12 Wayne Stevens (c), 11 PJ Vermeulen, 10 Dean Grant, 9 Tian Meyer, 8 Ruaan Lerm, 7 Carel Greeff, 6 Marnus Schoeman, 5 Jaco Nepgen, 4 Hugo Kloppers, 3 Maks van Dyk, 2 Martin Bezuidenhout, 1 Janro van Niekerk.
