Going into the game, neither side could qualify for the Currie Cup playoffs, but the result sees Griquas finish ahead of DHL WP in sixth place on the log.
An end-to-end encounter saw Griquas go into the break with a 20-15 lead, having gone 17-3 up early on thanks to tries from wing Dylan Maart and lock Dylan Sjoblom.
Captain Dan du Plessis scored either side of half time for a Province side that welcomed back a number of senior players.
The lead changed several times in the second half, when centre Damian Markus dotted down in the 69th minute, before Griquas had a try disallowed for a forward pass with five minutes to play.
However, Griquas earned a penalty in their own 22 and worked their way upfield, with the nippy Alexander on hand to finish the decisive try.
