Hougaard poised to join Wasps

Former Springbok scrumhalf Francois Hougaard is reportedly on the verge of completing a transfer move away from Worcester Warriors to Wasps.

According to English newspaper The Daily Mail, Francois Hougaard is set to move to Premiership rivals Wasps when his contract finishes at the end of this season.

Hougaard, who played 45 times for the Boks, had previously been linked with Jake White’s Vodacom Bulls, but as SARugbymag.co.za reported back in February, that move was ruled out a while back.

It has been said that an apparent factor in the scrumhalf’s decision to remain in the UK is that he will qualify for British citizenship on residency next year.

The 32-year-old, who scored World Rugby’s Try of the Year against the All Blacks in 2014, will likely fill the gap left by scrumhalf Ben Vellacott’s move to Edinburgh.
