UCT overturned a 20-point half-time deficit to beat NWU in their rescheduled Varsity Cup match on Tuesday.
The opening fixture of the 2025 season had to be postponed due to protest action at UCT on Monday, and took place at an undisclosed venue on Tuesday morning behind closed doors.
Down 23-3 at half time, UCT scored three unanswered tries in the second half to start their campaign with four log points.
UCT will now travel to Bloemfontein to take on CUT next Monday, with NWU hosting Maties.
