Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies will be sidelined for the Super Rugby season opener against the Cheetahs on Saturday.

The 23-year-old playmaker is still recovering from a shoulder injury and will only be ready for active duty within two weeks.

Wing Anthony Volmink is also nursing a shoulder injury and is expected to miss Saturday's game as well.
