SA Rugby (SARU) are reportedly eyeing an up-and-coming coach with domestic rugby experience to assist new Junior Springbok head coach Kevin Foote.
SARU has been reshuffling the coaching structure of the struggling Junior Springboks, and Sunday newspaper Rapport understands that Melusi Mthethwa is being considered as a key addition.
Mthethwa, an assistant coach for the Varsity Cup-winning Shimlas, is tipped to join Foote and Lumumba Currie to form the Junior Boks’ new coaching core.

Mthethwa is known for his attack and backline expertise, having also worked with the Cheetahs, and Griquas. He began his coaching career in Potchefstroom, mentoring future stars such as Sharks flyhalf Siya Masuku.
Foote, a former Blitzboks captain, took over the U20 side in August after Bafana Nhleko moved to coach the Springbok Women’s team.
Their roles are part of SARU’s broader management restructuring, which also saw Swys de Bruin become the Bok Women’s high-performance coach.
