Lions lose Bok stalwart to season-ending injury

The Lions have confirmed that Willem Alberts has sustained a high-grade tear of his right hamstring muscle and will likely be out for the remainder of the Currie Cup.

The Lions’ Currie Cup campaign got off to a disappointing start last Friday when they suffered a 39-10 loss to the Pumas in Nelspruit, while they will next face Province on Wednesday night.

To add to their woes, they will not be able to call on the services of the experienced Alberts, who is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
