Lions to clinch maiden title

THE MONEY MAN is betting on the Lions to win Saturday's Super Rugby final against the Hurricanes in Wellington.

The bookies believe the Canes will win by seven or more points. History favours them and everyone will tell you that there's no way the Lions should win this game. But you'd be brave to bet against a team that seems to be destined for greatness.

When evaluating both teams, the Lions, for me, have the better lineup. They have the better forwards and front three and this could prove vital in a match where bad weather is expected.

The Lions will win the final by three or more points. They are a superb unit, who have scored 81 tries this season at an average of 4.8 per game, which includes five tries each against the Crusaders and the Highlanders in the knockout stage. They made a staggering 9,264 running metres at an average of 545 per game.

I won't be betting much on the final, as I've already made a nice profit of R16,500 this year, which I will donate to charity next week.

I am putting down R500 on the Lions to beat the Hurricanes by five or more points. The bet pays R1,500 plus my stake back.
