Munster showed their class in fighting back to overtake and then subdue a lively effort from the touring Lions in Limerick on Saturday night.
Prop John Ryan’s second-half try helped Munster complete a 17-10 comeback victory against the Lions at Thomond Park, with the home side claiming their first win in the Vodacom URC since round 3, snapping a three-game slump.
Former Sharks utility back Thaakir Abrahams starred for the Red Army, dotting down to give the hosts a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Lions responded with a wonder try from inside centre Henco van Wyk while flyhalf Kade Wolhuter’s five points from the tee gave the visitors a 10-7 lead going into the break.
Replacement winger Shane Daly and Ryan each crossed the whitewash in the third quarter to reclaim Munster’s lead and secure a 17-10 result that drops the Lions to 4-2 on the season.
The Lions now turn to their attention to the Challenge Cup as they travel to face Ospreys in Swansea next week (8 December) before jetting home to host Pau (14 December).
In round 8 of the URC they take on the DHL Stormers in Cape Town on 21 December.
