Mnisi heads up Lions

Howard Mnisi will captain a Golden Lions team with wholesale changes against the EP Kings at Ellis Park on Saturday.

Although Warren Whiteley was initially named at No 8 and as captain, he suffered a calf strain in training on Thursday, which sees Kwagga Smith move into the starting lineup while Mnisi takes over the leadership.

With coach Johan Ackermann continuing his rotation policy, Malcolm Marx and Julian Redelinghuys will start in the front row, with MB Lusaseni at No 4 lock.

There are five changes to the backline, with Lohan Jacobs starting at scrumhalf, Jaco van der Walt at flyhalf and Stokkies Hanekom at outside centre.

Anthony Volmink is on the left wing, with Ruan Combrinck shifting to the right to make space for fullback Andries Coetzee.
