Steven Kitshoff has provided insight on his rehabilitation from a neck injury that has sidelined the two-time World Cup winner for the Springboks and DHL Stormers.
The veteran loosehead prop’s condition has ruled him out of national duty and the early stages of the Stormers’ 2024-25 season since early September.
Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with News24, the 32-year-old Kitshoff gave an update on his recovery. “I must say, I’m very fortunate,” he said.
“I don’t have any pain. I only have a fusion [surgery] booked for 20 November, so I’ll definitely see what the specialist says after that.”

“For now, I’m happy to be pain-free, have a bit of mobility back, and I’m actually feeling pretty good,” the inaugural Vodacom URC-winning skipper added. “Just no contact at the moment, or any sort of physical hard work.”
On South Africa’s end-of-year tour opener against Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday, Kitshoff admitted it will be a good test for the Boks.
“I think probably their toughest challenge is going to be Scotland coming up this weekend,” he said. “Their URC teams are performing very well. I’m extremely excited to watch it, but also nervous for them.”
